What is IPL?
Intense pulsed light (IPL) is a technology used by cosmetic and medical practitioners to perform various skin treatments for aesthetic and therapeutic purpose.
IPL is a nonsurgical treatment that will improve your skin’s appearance, quickly and easily. This advanced light based technology clears undesirable brown spots, sun damage, and vessels, revealing clearer skin.
How does it work?
Specialized pulses target brown spots, sun damage, and vessels without harming the surrounding skin. The light delivers to your skin causes them to slowly disappear through your body’s natural healing process.
What results can I expect?
Expect to see a decrease in the appearance of brown spots, sun damage, and vessels for more even skin tone. A series of treatments may be needed for desired results. Treatment plans can be adjusted to fit everyone’s lifestyle. Most people need 3-5 months, which consists of a full series of 3-5 treatments about 1 month apart.
What is the downtime?
For redness, the skin looks slightly more red after the treatment for two to five days. Makeup can be used starting right after the treatment, as long as it is applied and removed very gently. Rarely, there is bruising, which can take 1-2 weeks to resolve.
For dark spots or sun damage, the spots generally look darker for 3-7 days. Crusting can occur, which may last up to ten days. The lesions will then begin to clear and will generally be resolving at one month. Remember, it takes an average of 3-5 treatments to clear age spots.
