Dermaplaning, the newest exfoliation treatment, removes the outermost layer of dead skin cells, and vellus hairs from face, resulting in smoother, more rejuvenated skin. Dermaplaning, also known as epidermal leveling, is a latest form of manual exfoliation that is suitable for even the most sensitive skin types. Our clientele have often described dermaplaning as a relaxing procedure that leaves their skin looking and feeling more youthful.

Dermaplaning is ideal for our clients who are concerned about their excessive amount of fine facial hair (peach fuzz). Dermaplaning gently removes this vellus hair temporarily. Since the structure of the hair is not damaged vellus hairs won’t return coarser or darker. In this way, dermaplaning is one of the few skin treatments that also offers a hair removal benefit.

With no down town time or major side effects, dermaplaning is ideal for a short day spa trip for our clients that are on the go. Their dermaplaning experience leaves them feeling invigorated and refreshed.

What Does Dermaplaning Treat?

Dermaplaning treats a myriad of different skin concerns including:

• Fine Lines and Wrinkles
• Rough/Uneven Skin
• Excessive Facial Hair
• Uneven Skin Tones
• Comedos (Blackheads)
• Clogged Pores
• Some Acne Scaring

Besides treating these and other conditions, dermaplaning also has a number of positive effects including:

• Smoother Skin
• Enhanced Product Absorption
• Skin Rejuvenation
• Helps remove and prevent pre-cancerous cells

What is Involved in a

Dermaplaning Treatment?

The aestheticians at Epiphany Dermatology evaluate each of our client’s individual skin types and concerns.

During the dermaplaning process the aesthetician provides a relaxing atmosphere as they gently remove fine vellus hair and dead skin cells from the epidermis with an instrument called a dermatome. The aestheticians gently stroke the dermatome over the skin in a method similar to shaving. This process reveals the healthy skin cells beneath, giving the client’s skin a more radiant appearance.

Post treatment, dermaplaning leaves the skin feeling more luxurious and smooth. Those who use facial products find that dermaplaning facilitates maximum product absorption. Previous clientele have found their dermaplaning treatment to be very soothing. Treatment time can be as short as 30 minutes or less.

For the ultimate in skin rejuvenation, dermaplaning can be followed with a chemical peel. As with all treatments at Epiphany Dermatology, dermaplaning and chemical peels will be customized according to each of our client’s individual skin types and concerns.
